For International Women's Day 2024, we interviewed some of our female Trade Union members and members of our staff team to find out more about their experiences in the Security Industry as a female.

Stereotypically, security has been a male-dominated domain, an imbalance rooted in deep-seated societal norms that often associate physical strength and intimidation with safety. A 2018 report by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) revealed that women constitute a mere 10% of the UK's private security workforce. Presently, approximately 25% of the Security Industry comprises women, indicating a rise in their representation. However, the industry still faces challenges in achieving a more balanced gender distribution.
